The ethnic mix of the people, Mauritian, Indian and Chinese really does give the island an exotic feel. The food is fantastic, the island infrastructure works and there is plenty to do and see once you have enjoyed the beach and the beautiful sea. It makes a great destination for a long haul family holiday as there are hotels which really make children and teenagers welcome. It is an ideal location for a honeymoon or get away from it all relaxing holiday and, historically and culturally, it has a lot to offer the more adventurous and independent traveller.
All in all it is an excellent holiday destination and to top it all its pleasant year round climate means that it is always a good time to visit. At Marco Polo we are big fans of the Beachcomber group of hotels. They are Mauritian owned and managed and offer great value for money from the 3* Le Mauricia in the heart of Grand Baie to the oasis of luxury that is the Royal Palm. |
