An Italian Love Story:
Palazzo Sasso Becomes Palazzo Avino
One of the Amalfi coastline’s most cherished boutique
hotels, Palazzo Sasso is changing its name in January
2013 to Palazzo Avino in homage of the family who
owns the hotel and as a fitting testament to the original
endeavours of Guiseppe Avino, who saw the potential,
renovated and opened his “dream place” in July 1997
out of the remains of an aristocratic dwelling that dates
back to the 12th century. Whilst the name change
comes as a result of a legal battle over the use of the
name “Palazzo Sasso”, it also reflects how the Avino
family will be closely involved in the running of this
hugely popular hotel on the hillside of Ravello.
